Read reviews of the AH717 head and knew I wanted it. Very smooth, and just stiff enough to provide perfect resistance. Shooting on a DSLR one doesn't really need a super fast pan since it would distort the image. Thought I'd get these legs too and see if I liked them, and I do. Solid, all aluminum construction. No spreader on this tripod, so the legs can spread incredibly wide for very low angles. Also a very tall tripod. I'm an even 6' and the head rises above my head. Perfect for the price.
