Customer Reviews

Through Amazon I ordered The above tripod. Order was placed Feb 22. Order was not shipped until Mar 3. Received a completely different tripod on Mar 9. Responded to the company through Amazon about the discrepancy and was given a return response of only...
"We apologize for the mistake, we will send you the correct tripod ASAP."
I replied back with a request of ship date and tracking number because I had a need to use this tripod in about 2 weeks. No response.
I queried the supplier again on Mar 18 because the project I needed the tripod for was rapidly approaching. Immediate response was only...
"We will take care of it today."
No other communication as to whether the replacement unit has shipped or not.
Mar 25 I send them a very dissatisfied customer letter to which they immediately replied with only...
"We apologize for the mistake, your tripod is on the way to you, we shipped it on Monday."
I had to query back about a tracking number as this was not readily provided.
I know I am only a voice of one and this is just one incident, I am sorry but after feeling like I was blown off twice, with a customer service long on promise and short on follow through , I cannot in good conscience recommend Cowboy Studio or its products and services to anyone. I suggest Cowboy Studio review their customer service practices and find out how to prevent this embarassment with future customers.

After looking around my city for a decent tripod to buy from a store for my 7D, I simply could find nothing in the sub $200 level that wasn't an entire piece of garbage - BestBuy wanted $90 for a plastic on plastic head tripod!
Is it carbon fiber? Can't tell... I do know that it is amazingly light yet strong. Other sites state that the legs are steel or aluminum. You would not want to buy this for say, a heavily built P2 or RED (what is used where I work), but for my DSLR Video setup (Canon 7D), it could not be more perfect. Its an Asian copy of a pretty expensive Bogen, and does not have the same heft/strength of its brand name equivalent.
Pros:
Very light
Very few plastic parts
Price can't be beat
Perfect for DSLR video
Comes with carry case
Very comfortable handle that telescopes out.
Cons:
Not sure if accurate description by Amazon (carbon fiber legs?).
Center brace does not adjust (fixed leg distance).
At full extension, it can wobble a bit at the leg adjustment points. This can be fixed by stopping an inch or so before maxim extension.
Bowl adjustment is rather limited.
Its rather petite for a multi-stage-leg tripod.
At work we use incredibly expensive sticks and head, but for a smaller camera rig, this is by far the best price to quality product I've found. This tripod is not for huge camera builds! Something like a Sony XLH/(no attachment)P2 or something in that size range would be fine. I was worried about the review stating the wrong item was shipped, but mine arrived right on time and was correct. This is my first review on Amazon, simply because I think this dang tripod is such a good deal- I don't know how they make money on this thing.
