I am a newbie DSLR film-maker as of this writing so if you are looking for more informed and solid reviews, I would recommend you take my opinion with a grain of salt. That said, I absolutely love this tripod. I have honestly not had any experience with higher-end ones but I will be needing a VERY good reason to upgrade in the foreseeable future. The only situation I can think of that would render this tripod unusable is if and when I decide to rig-up with matte boxes and all that extra stuff that tends to add considerable weight to the rig. Otherwise I'm sitting pretty well right now. And even with the need for a higher-end tripod, I see how this can make a good walk-around tripod or one to be used on lighter shoots.
EDIT: Okay, when I purchased this tripod I knew of it's height limitation but having not had any experience with tripods before, I thought it was something I could live with/work around. Sadly, this has turned out NOT to be the case. I am 6 feet tall and working with this tripod at it's current maximum height is just impossible for me. I am back in the market for a tripod. Hopefully I can locate one that's just as good as this one but taller.
